# Memory that keeps growing

Prompt · Performance and scale · P07

Finds why a page or process gets slower or crashes the longer it runs.

## Prompt

```text
Investigate sustained memory growth and allocation pressure. Look for unbounded caches, retained closures, unremoved listeners, large error objects, detached DOM references and accidentally retained request data. Use heap profiles or repeatable growth tests to validate candidates.
```

**What it returns:** Two heap snapshots over a repeated action, with the growing object type and what retains it.

**Skip it when:** When memory use stays flat over a long session.

**Tools:** Chrome DevTools memory snapshots or Node --inspect.

**Changes:** Changes nothing

**Sessions:** One session
